The grab itself is instant; the danger is the run back. Each biome has a guardian that starts chasing the moment you lift an egg, and rarer eggs are heavier, cutting your carry speed. Add other players who can snatch the egg off you mid-run, and a hesitant route home costs more eggs than any guardian. The fix is a routine you repeat every time.

What is the escape routine?

1. Scout the exit first. Watch the guardian’s patrol loop and pick the shortest path from the nest to the biome exit before touching anything.
2. Grab and go. Every second after pickup is a second the guardian closes distance. Do not check the egg, do not chat.
3. Trap the chaser. If the guardian is gaining, drop a bear trap behind you. Supply is limited, so use them on Legendary and above.
4. Bank immediately. Run directly to your incubator. Detours are where other players steal from you.

Which guardians are the most dangerous?

How much Speed do I really need?

Aim for double the biome’s listed gate before farming its top-tier eggs. The listed value gets you in, but a heavy Mythic egg can drop you below the guardian’s pace. Farming the previous biome’s Rare eggs at a comfortable margin beats losing a Legendary egg every other run.

How do I win races for rare and Secret eggs?

How do I stop other players stealing from me?

You are only vulnerable while carrying. Bank eggs straight away, avoid stopping in open ground, and never carry two trips’ worth of risk by lingering. Once a pet is in your Pen it is safe; consider fusing duplicates in the Fuse Machine so your Pen holds fewer, stronger pets.
